We had a terrific Lunchtime Talk last Friday, courtesy of historians and film makers Brian Langtry and Len Holden.
Brian has produced a documentry telling the moving story of 30 miners from South Leicestershire who were the only pitmen to respond to the call to strike in 1984. Politics aside this was an extraordinary story of determination, comradeship and the desperate sadness of communities and life long friendships suddenly torn apart. The film told the story with dignity and quiet reflection and it stands as an excellent piece of social history.
Incredible to think that these events are nearly 30 years ago.
If you are interested in seeing the film, please contact the Museum & Art Gallery for details of how to contact Brian.
