A Gurkha’s Story

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery was delighted to welcome ex Gurkha Sergeant Robin Rai on Wednesday 28 November. Robin has donated his Gurkha Number 2 Dress Uniform to the museum collection and has also had his experiences of army life filmed and recorded for the museum by local film maker Simon Cox.

The film, currently under production, will feature in a new exhibition about the Gurkhas to be launched at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery on Saturday 12 January 2013. This exciting new exhibition will outline the proud history of the Gurkhas as well as highlight the local link Nuneaton has with these soldiers from Nepal.

Robin Rai served eighteen years in the Queen’s Gurkha Signals and has served all over the world including war zones such as Bosnia and Iraq. Visitors will be able to hear Robin’s unique story as well as view objects and photographs relating to both Gurkha army life and the culture of Nepal.
