I’m so pleased to have this exhibition back at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery once again. It was first shown in 2010 and created a great deal of interest, both from National Service veterans and family members, some of whom were hearing stories and reminiscences for the very first time.
Bedbox, Blanco & Boots explores National Service, the local men who participated in it and the effect it had on those left behind. It weaves together oral testimony, film, photographs and objects from the Museum’s collections to convey a fascinating part of local and national history.
Younger visitors aren’t left out! They can try on a National Service Battledress and Beret then attempt our special free National Service worksheets!
If you feel inspired by this exhibition then why not join me for a free lunchtime talk at the museum on Friday 15 June at 12.30pm? Alongside me will me a number of National Service veterans, many of whom contributed to the exhibition. I think I can guarantee you an entertaining and thought provoking occasion.
Places are free but limited so advance booking is essential. To book a place please call the museum on (024) 7635 0720.
